Sheri was raised in Griffin, GA, where her father was a Certified Public Accountant. Upon graduation from high school, she entered Oxford College of Emory University where she finished as an honor graduate with an Associates degree. The next fall, she was accepted to the Business School of Emory University in Atlanta where she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. At Emory she shared top graduate honors with one of her classmates and was designated a graduate of highest distinction. While at Emory, she served as President of the accounting honor society Beta Alpha Psi. She was also a member of Mortar Board and of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.  

After graduating from Emory, Sheri interned in the Audit division of the international accounting firm, Arthur Young.  After her internship she began law school at the University of Georgia.  While at UGA, she served on the editorial board of the Georgia Law Review, received the highest grade of any student in Trusts and Estates, and graduated in the top 10% of her class which qualified her for Order of the Coif honors.

Upon graduation from law school, Sheri moved to Dalton where her husband, David, was practicing law.  She began her career as an associate with the Chattanooga law firm of Stophel & Stophel, P.C.  At Stophel her practice consisted of tax matters, estate planning, mergers and acquisitions, and probate. 

Sheri left full time law practice on the birth of the first of her three children. She began practicing law part time with her husband and Robert Whitlow. While her children were young Sheri continued a part time practice. Her practice focused primarily on wills, trusts, estate planning and probate administration. In 1995, Sheri and David founded the law firm of Blevins & Blevins, P.C.  As Sheri’s children grew older, she transitioned back into full time law practice.

Sheri continued to practice Probate law until 2009 when she was elected Probate Judge for Whitfield County.  Since being elected Probate Judge, Sheri has presided over the administration of hundreds of estates, incapacitated adult cases, minor settlements, gun permits, marriage licenses and traffic citations. Sheri has been selected by the Carl Vinson Institute as an instructor for other probate judges for continuing judicial education and by the Council of Probate Judges to instruct probate clerks. She serves as vice-chair of the Weapons Carry License committee of the Probate Judges’ Council.

Sheri has been married for nearly 30 years to David Blevins who is a local attorney.  They have three daughters and one son-in-law.  All four children are products of Christian Heritage and Whitfield County Schools.  Elizabeth is working on her Ph.D. in American History at the University of Tennessee while her husband, Aaron, is on the ministerial staff at Sevier Heights Baptist Church. Rebecca is working on her Masters in Bioethics at Trinity International University and Sarah is finishing her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Lee University.

Sheri is an active member of Grove Level Baptist Church and the Dalton Rotary Club. She formerly served on the boards of Murray County Developmental Center, Northwest Georgia Women’s Crisis Center, and the Whitfield Healthcare Foundation. She is a member of the 2009 class of Leadership Dalton/Whitfield and a past member of the Cherokee Estate Planning Council.
